It's been 2 weeks since Ryan's arrival and my life has consisted of not sleeping, nursing and trying to maintain my sanity. Well, today my mother-in-law took Katie to her house and "Little Man" (which is Katie's favorite thing to call him) and Mommy had a day on our own. And what does a photographer mommy do when she has a spare second? Take pics of course. I didn't get a ton and may try again this afternoon but here are a few I did snap. It's way harder when these newborns are your own and newborns are hard in general anyway.
Some updates on Ryan for those who may be interested. He is having a bit of trouble getting started on gaining weight. He was 8lbs 14oz at birth and 8lbs 4oz at one week. Yesterday at 2 weeks old he was only 8lbs 5oz. A gain, but not enough since he was supposed to be at least to his birth weight by 2 weeks. Mommy's a bit worried and frustrated (she's been nursing almost every hour for the last week!!!!), but I know he'll be fine. He's just being lazy when he nurses and falls asleep too quickly so we are trying to jumpstart him a bit with formula as well. He's strong and feisty and his jaundice is pretty much gone. He's having more happy alert times during the day since we started the formula so that's a positive. I'm hoping once he gets going we can go back to breastfeeding exclusively.
Thank for everyone's blog comments on his arrival! Usually I get an email notification when someone comments, but for some reason I never got any. I was beginning to wonder if my blog friends had forgotten me! :) But alas when I logged in to Blogger there were tons of well wishes. Definitely appreciated!
Off to take a short lived nap as "Little Man" is starting to stir...
Instead of posting individual pics I put together this montage of Ryan's first days at the hospital. Not a masterpeice by any means but captured such a special time. Mommy didn't get to take many pictures herself because of her spinal headache, but she is VERY grateful to all of those who took pictures for her!!! Enjoy :)
Oh and turn up the volume!
***** Edited to add that the song is "Today" by Joshua Radin. I actually heard it on the Ellen/Portia Wedding video...haha! I just loved it. :)
I was able to get some pictures to Keith's laptop although I just realized I didn't watermark them....oops! I just wanted to share some pictures of my little man! These were from the hospital. :)
Sorry no pictures for the blog at the moment, but I wanted to let everyone who may not already know that our little boy, Ryan Todd, has arrived! He was born September 16 at 8:05am and weighed 8lbs 14ozs and 20 inches.
Unfortunately we are the last group of homes in our area to receive power. They are telling us we won't have it until next Thursday. :( This makes it a bit difficult to update the blog and post pictures.
I have lots to update for sure....pictures from before the hurricane, after the hurricane and Baby Ryan's arrival.
Most know we are getting ready hunker down and ride out hurricane Ike. Let's just pray it's quick and without major drama. We are expecting power outages and are prepared. Let's also hope I don't go into labor!!! Aye yi yi! Grandma and Grandpa T. are on their way early to beat the storm here so there would be no risk in missing Ryan's arrival on Tuesday!
I just wanted to share a couple snaps from tonight. Katie has the privelige of being the first kid in her class to take home their mascot Tommy the Turtle!!!!! Don't worry...he's not real. :P You would not believe how excited she was about this! We are supposed to journal each day about what Tommy the Turtle did with our family. He's going to have quite an interesting weekend! :P
I am a mommy to Katie and Ryan, and a wife to Keith. My passions are doing whatever makes my babies happy and photography. I've really only been into photography since November '06 but I'm in love. I'm in love with capturing little expressions in my kids' face and interaction with friends and family. I try to capture everything, from everyday moments to portraits. I don't want to miss or forget a thing.
