Merry and Bright

I love this term in reference to Christmas...because it is just that. It's fun and cozy and magical.

Santa did good!

Ryan liked Katie's scooter. He wasn't much into opening presents at all. Mommy and Katie did most of that for him as he hopped from toy to toy :P

Playing with their new train table! Santa worked really heard putting all the tracks and various other doodads together and it was torn apart within minutes!

Katie and her loot!

Love them...

After a leisurely morning enjoying our gifts we headed up to Grandma and Grandpa K's! There was game playing...

Doggy wrangling!

No pants wearing...eh hem...and Santa hat wearing!

Cookie decorating...

And family :)

I hope your Christmas was as blessed as ours :)

Christmas Eve!

After running around hectically during the week trying to get last minute shopping done, groceries bought and presents wrapped...and a very frustrated Santa because I kept changing my mind on what the kids' big gift should be (I might actually be on the naughty list next year!)...Christmas Eve day was calm. We lounged around in our jammies most of the day. The kids woke up to Bert the Elf holding a note and two little packages with a tag that said Open on Christmas Eve before Bed.

Here's what his note said...

"Alas it's Christmas Eve and tomorrow I must go,
Back to the North Pole with Santa and the snow,
My visit to Texas was a delightful treat,
And traveling to California was unexpected and neat,
Every day I reported all that I saw,
Though sometimes the behavior left me in awe,
Santa said not to worry...she's 4 and he's 1,
Santa knows in their hearts they are a good daughter and son,
So, have a Merry Christmas with lots of good cheer,
I will miss you Katie and Ryan and will see you next year!

Love Your Loyal Elf, Bert"

And you already saw what Bert brought...

I was so happy that we were going to go to the Children and Family Christmas Eve service at TWUMC because a) it meant it was BEFORE dinner and we didn't run the risk of overly cranky and tired kids on Christmas Eve and b) it meant that we were in the same boat as all the rest of the people at the service so we didn't get evil glares for bringing our antsy children in and c) it was cute, with the telling of the christmas story with a live nativity.

Grandma and Grandpa K joined us and afterwards we took some family pictures in front of our little house, which we will miss immensely (except for the lack of space) when we move in a couple of weeks.

The kiddos with the grandparents...

And various other groupings :P

Aunt Stacy and Uncle Mike came a bit later and we had a wonderful dinner. Apparently I was too busy to take pictures :P Stay tuned for Christmas Day festivities!

A Merry Farkle Christmas

My parents flew in to town the weekend before Christmas to start off the celebrations!! First up on the itinerary was a trip around the corner to see our new house! Hard to believe they'll never come visit us in this house again.

Katie, Grandpa and Grandma running around our new backyard...

Ryan loves climbing in the empty cupboards...of course sister has to too!

Somebody likes it when Grandma is here...

Last year we made a gingerbread house so I thought we'd continue the tradition!

Baking and decorating cookies is always on the agenda at Christmas time!

Does someone look guilty? Some cookie dough went missing...hmmm, who could have taken eaten it???

After what seemed like months of torture to Katie...we finally got to open some presents!!!!

Monday my mom and I took Katie to see the Nutcracker Ballet downtown. So fun!

Finally we took the kids to see Santa and then then Katie was dying to go ice skating! While mom did some last minute shopping the kids posed for Grandma and Grandpa in front of the tree..

Waiting in line for an hour kinda takes the fun out of seeing Santa...that and your little brother screaming bloody murder! Ahh...memories :D

Finally ice skating! She started off with the regular single blade ice skates but it really wasn't working out :P So we went with the "over the shoe double blade" kind and that was much more fun!

Zamboni time...time to go!

We had such a wonderful pre-Christmas Christmas with my family. Wish they could just stay forever!

More Christmas pics to come...
