She's 7 Years Old!

Happy Birthday to my sweet Katie! Every year I say I can't believe it and it's true again! Here are some things about Katie at 7 years old...

- Loves dance! She takes tap, ballet and jazz. In addition she was asked to take part in her studio's competition dance company so she has an additional 1.5 hour class on top of her other classes. She seems to enjoy it as well as have a talent for it. I'm so proud of her.

- She can't get enough of Art! A lady in our neighborhood was an Architect in Mexico and is also a very talented artist. She holds a class once a week at her home for a few kids. Katie LOVES it. Outside of class "crafts" are always on her agenda at home and various projects can be found around the house. Ha!

- Girl Scouts is a big part of our lives! Somehow I was convinced to be a leader last year but it's been a great experience and all of Katie's friends are in our troop so she has a blast. This year we are doing a Journey about Animals...right up Katie's alley!

- Katie is in 1st Grade and is excelling! I was worried about number grades this year but of course she has proven I have nothing to worry about! She seems to do very well at math...she understands it quickly so we'll see if that continues! She loves her teacher Mrs. Reid.

- Katie did soccer this past fall (of course I coached!) and loved it! Her age group was all girls so she seemed to not be as intimidated. She's still not very aggressive but I saw definitely improvement this year. She scored quite a few goals...so proud! Hopefully we'll be able to fit it in our schedule again this spring.

Here's her 7 Year Video Montage!

Katie's Pancakes and Pajamas 7th Birthday Party!

Pancakes + Pajamas + Presents + Some Pretty Cute Girls = The Perfect Party! Katie's 7th birthday party was a hit! The theme was Pancakes and Pajamas. All the girls came in their PJ's and brought their favorite doll for a fun filled pancake buffet. Suprisingly the fruit was hardly touched??? :) They also made fruit loop necklaces and a no sew fleece doll blanket. Judging by the smile on Katie's face I think the party was a success!!!

American Girl!

For her birthday Katie wanted her first American Girl. All of her friends have them so it was time to cave. They just opened a store in Houston so Thanksgiving break was the perfect opportunity to head down there and have some girly fun! Of course Katie's BFF Sophia, our American Girl expert, came along with us! It was a great day :)

Ice Skating!

I took the kids ice skating with some friends the other other day. I knew Katie would have a blast but was unsure how Ryan would take to it. Well...he loved it! He didn't last very long...it's a lot of work! He got pretty tired and opted for hanging out with his buddy Clayton and playing on the iphones :)

Feasts!

Ryan had his school Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday. There was no sign up for parents to bring things...we were told the kids are doing it all. Hmmm. Wasn't quite sure how that was going to work but it turned out so cute. They made everything...except the chicken nuggets. The kids did all the cutting of the fruit, they made pumpkin muffins from scratch, cut green beans and cooked them, and corn bread from scratch. Parents sat and watched as the kids each had a job...Ryan's was to use a spatula and take each piece of cornbread out of the pan, pile it on a plate and then take it to the table. Other kids set the table, poured water etc. It was awesome :)

Katie's Feast included a cute little program with songs and the ABC's of Thanksgiving where each kid had a speaking part. Then the food! It was really cute!

Here are a couple of cute random snaps... Hot Mess

Overachiever...

What's old is new...was going through toys to give to Brooke and Ryan was in heaven :)

Last Day of Soccer

Saturday we ended our Fall soccer season with a double header and a fun team party! We had a great little team...we quickly learned winning isn't everything...and I had a blast coaching. It was a great feeling to have parents come up to me and say that their girls really loved playing soccer and are coming back. Whether I'll be their coach is still yet to be determined...would love to if I can.

It is very hard to take pictures while coaching a game but I brought my camera and managed to snap a few of the last games.

Katie was so happy to have her BFF, Sophia, on her team!
