We are SOOOOO excited about the upcoming arrival of the kids' first cousin and I'm also very excited to get a new title...Auntie!! Last weekend my sister in law Julie, Stacy's best friend Christie and I threw a baby shower for Stacy and had so much fun.

Beautifying a Ballerina

Katie's ballet recital is drawing near and that means pictures! Her studio tells you how to do their hair and make up since they want them to look uniform and her group called for "soft curls." My hair DOES NOT curl and I was hoping hers would...so I entered unchartered territory for me...curlers!

Unfortunately for Katie...she got her mother's hair and it won't hold curl. She slept all night in those things and when I took them out it was as straight as a bone. Even the curling iron had trouble. So we settled for wavy :) She looked pretty cute none the less...

She is very excited about her recital coming up in a couple weeks! I'm so proud at what she's accomplished this year in ballet and tap. She really loves it!

Fly Away

Well I failed at documenting our caterpillar's metamorphasis very well. But, the kids did REALLY enjoy watching them change and were so excited when they went up to their cocoons and then eventually emerge as butterflies. I admit...I loved it too! They started to get quite antsy in their habitat and our cat was very interested in them as well and kept knocking them over, so we finally let them go.

One of the caterpillars had a malformed wing and couldn't fly so he will live out the remainder of his days being spoiled with sugar water in his habitat :) Plus, Katie was excited to hold him since he wouldn't fly away :)

As Ryan would say...Bye Bye Buh-fies...Bye Bye Ca-purs!

4.5

I honestly can't think about her next birthday. I don't even want to say the number. So for now I am cherishing her while she's still in the 4's but I will admit that you can see in her face that the baby and toddler is definitely gone and the little girl is present. The cheesy grins of last year are replaced with sweet smirks and tilted heads. My once stubborn child who wanted nothing to do with having her picture taken...is posing. Happy Half Birthday smoosh :)

Another Year In The Books

Katie's last day of school was today. Here's a little comparison between the beginning of the year and this morning. Her hair is crazy long! We are holding out until after ballet to cut it. It's very pretty but such a pain!

They had a luau party and had lots of fun :) She of course had to dress accordingly :P Her brother was supposed to wear his Hawaiian shirt too, but he had other opinions. We loved having Andon in our class this year!

Andon and Katie doing their song for the parents...

We are looking forward to a relaxing summer! Aloha!

Just Zoo It!

We LOVE the zoo and had fun spending a hot humid Friday with our friends and a few animals :) Ryan's favorites were the monkeys and the giraffes. Katie got up close and personal with a baby alligator! We ended the day playing in the water and a train ride. Needless to say both kids passed out for the trip home.

What a Girl Wants

Can I just say that I think commercials should be banned from children's television!! Katie's recent obsession is Sprout and they have lovely infomercials for "Pillow Pets" and "Live Butterfly Gardens" both of which Katie wants more than anything in the world. Well, I caved on the Butterfly Garden a)because she was so excited about doing one at school and b) it's educational and c) they had it at Target. So you purchase the box that contains the cylindrical net container and have to send away for the actual caterpillars. We had to check the mail at least twice a day until those darned things showed up! Katie was very worried her caterpillars would be scared in the mail box. But alas...they arrived and they sleep in Katie's bedroom. Every morning we bring them downstairs and draw a picture and she dictates to me the changes she sees. Pretty cool!

Day 1

Day 2

I'll keep you updated on the process and progress! I'm sure you will be glued to your seats :P
